Bipolar prostate resection

The operation is transurethral and minimally invasive and is indicated for patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia and ineffectiveness of conservative therapy. The intervention is performed using bipolar energy in a saline solution, which has proven its efficacy and safety.

The use of bipolar technology allows for the avoidance of limitations on prostate volume, ensures minimal blood loss and a short duration of bladder catheter drainage, and reduces postoperative complications. After the surgery, most patients quickly restore normal urination. It is also important that the modern technique provides a short recovery period.

Preparation for surgery:

  • general blood and urine tests, as well as evaluation of PSA (tumor marker) levels;
  • coagulation profile;
  • tests for infections: HIV, hepatitis, syphilis;
  • chest X-ray;
  • ECG;
  • ultrasound of the urogenital system;
  • uroflowmetry.

Rehabilitation

Full recovery after the surgical intervention takes about a month. During this time, the patient stays in the clinic only for the first few days. In some cases, discharge is scheduled as early as the third day after surgery. The patient receives all necessary therapy, and the catheter is removed on the 1st or 2nd day.
